Press club to honor trailblazing Tribune publisher

Helen Hart Hurlbert, longtime publisher of The Tribune Chronicle and trailblazing American female media executive, will be inducted into the Youngstown Press Club Hall of Fame this fall. Hurlbert, known affectionately for decades as “The Boss Lady,” will be among eight 2026 HOF inductees at the press club’s Hall of Fame and Awards Dinner at 5 p.m. Sept. 23 at Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown. Girard advances data center moratorium

GIRARD — The city is the latest community in the Mahoning Valley wanting to place a moratorium on data centers, with city council giving second reading Monday to legislation putting a one-year moratorium in place. Final reading on the legislation is scheduled for the July 13 meeting, after which the moratorium will immediately take effect. Cortland Lions step up to host festival

CORTLAND — Members of the Cortland Lions Club have stepped up to make sure the community has its annual summer festival, with this year marking the 78th year for the three-day event. The festival is scheduled for 6 p.m. to midnight Thursday and Friday and 1 p.m. to midnight Saturday along Main Street. Man faces OVI, child endangerment charges in Liberty

LIBERTY — A Youngstown man who blew nearly three times over the legal limit with two children in the car over the weekend made an appearance in court. Billy Hendrix, 45, pleaded not guilty to two charges of DUI, child endangerment and a misdemeanor charge in front of Girard Municipal Court Judge Jeffery Adler Monday morning.
