Leavittsburg man indicted in fatal Route 422 crash

WARREN — Dominique L. Dorsey, 37, of Anderson Anthony Road in Leavittsburg was indicted Thursday on several charges, involuntary manslaughter, aggravated vehicular homicide, aggravated vehicular assault and drunken driving in the June 17 crash that killed Sandra Swann, 66, of Cortland at U.S. Route 422 and state Route 5 in Warren Township. An Ohio State Highway Patrol crash report states that Dorsey was trying to flee from Warren Police at the time of the 9:23 a.m. crash and that Dorsey’s blood-alcohol level was 0.117, which is over the legal limit to drive in Ohio of 0.08. Newton Falls enacts 1-year moratorium on data centers

NEWTON FALLS — Village Council has approved placing a 12-month moratorium on permits for data centers while removing a former moratorium that was in place for recreational marijuana dispensaries. Council voted 4-0 Wednesday to give emergency reading to the moratorium for data centers, which will allow village officials to use the time for research. Bristol to prepare regulations for data centers

BRISTOL — Like many area townships, Bristol Township is the latest to plan to get information and regulations on data centers in their community’s zoning books. Township trustee Rhonda Snyder said she will meet with the zoning commission this month to begin putting guidelines and regulations in place. She said she has received a template from the Trumbull County Planning Commission to serve as a guide to prepare what Bristol needs to have to regulate such facilities. Niles street dedication goes to second reading

NILES — A former General Electric plant will soon be integrated into the city, as officials took another step toward making it legally active. City Council at Wednesday’s meeting approved the second reading of an ordinance accepting and confirming the dedication of Illumination Point Drive as a public street in the city and declaring it under the city’s care, supervision and control. Howland man indicted on theft in Geauga

CHARDON — A Howland man who was indicted by the Geauga County Prosecutor’s Office in mid-August made a court appearance this week. Steven Hudson, 42, pleaded not guilty to one charge of fifth-degree theft in front of Geauga County Court of Common Pleas Judge Carolyn Paschke on Wednesday afternoon.
