Pedestrian killed at city intersection

WARREN — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a car Saturday night at an intersection in Warren, police said. The fatal crash occurred just before 11 p.m. at Youngstown Road and Kenilworth Avenue SE. A westbound Buick sedan struck the pedestrian, who was crossing Youngstown Road in a northbound direction, according to the Warren Police Department. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident remains under investigation by Warren police. No further details on the driver or circumstances have been released.

McDonald councilman stepping down

McDONALD — Village council is seeking applicants to fill an opening on village council as Councilman Don Smith will be moving from the village after his final meeting July 15. Any resident interested in filling the remainder of Smith’s term can submit a letter of interest to the municipal building by Friday. Council will review the applicants at the July 15 meeting. Smith served as chairman of the finance and levy committees.

PARKERSBURG — Authorities have recommended a “precautionary shelter in place” for an area across the Little Kanawha River from the Peoples Cartage warehouse fire. WARREN -- A pedestrian was struck by an automobile and killed at the intersection of Youngstown Road and Kenilworth Avenue on Saturday night. According to a Warren Police Department news release, the collision involved a Buick sedan traveling westbound on Youngstown Road and a pedestrian walking northbound crossing Youngstown Road near this intersection.
