Warren shifts $1.4M to Inspiring Minds for community center

WARREN — City Council on Wednesday approved redirecting more than $1.4 million in previously allocated community project funds to Inspiring Minds for a community center. Council voted to move $1,425,000 from the Western Reserve Port Authority project to Inspiring Minds. Further details will be discussed during a meeting in the coming weeks when Inspiring Minds will be present. It also approved $50,000 to the Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership as fiscal agent for the South Eastside Community Association, or SESCA. CFMV awards nearly $1 million to nonprofits

The Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley has awarded $921,603 in its second grant cycle of the year to support nonprofits meeting the needs of local residents. With support from fundholders and the foundation’s discretionary funds, $382,145 was awarded through the CFMV General Grant. Liberty woman nearly scammed out of thousands

LIBERTY — A resident nearly lost thousands of dollars to a phishing link, but the total dollar loss is still unknown. According to a police report, an officer took a call from a woman who said she was scammed over the phone, explaining that she was on her laptop, navigating to her church’s website, when a link popped up on the screen. The link had prompted the woman to call a number to get her laptop fixed.
