WHAT: City council meeting Wednesday
PRESENT: John Brown, Helen Rucker, Tina Milner, Greg Greathouse, Todd Johnson, Ron White, James Shaffer, Mike Shrodek, Greg Thumm, Honeya Price and Mayor Doug Franklin
Council:
• Heard from Franklin about a community center for the city on Woodland Avenue working with Inspiring Minds, a local nonprofit. He said residents have expressed interest in having a center. Franklin said council may need to pass legislation at the next meeting for transferring funds for the project.
• Heard from Franklin who attended this week's opening of the Trumbull Energy Center, where he was presented a “Community Appreciation Award," which he presented to Frank Lucarelli, the head of the city's water department. The center will get water from Warren.
• Heard from Franklin that the city was presented an award from the Mahoning Valley Historical Society for the revitalization work at city hall, which was a four-year project.
• Were informed the Trumbull County Veteran Services Commission will have an America250 celebration at 5 p.m. July 3 at the amphitheater.
• Received a donation of a communication board for children to use at the Logan's Landing playground at Perkins Park.
• Heard from Thumm the city jail is being used for storage of papers and other items. He said the city has an agreement with Trumbull County Sheriff's Office for prisoners to be taken to the county jail.
