Cover Down Fund provides $5,000 for veterans for Easter
Staff report
The Cover Down Fund, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting veterans in the Mahoning Valley through emergency assistance, wellness initiatives and community-based programs, on Friday provided $2,500 each to the Mahoning County and Trumbull County Veterans Service Commissions.
The $5,000 was given in emergency gift cards to assist veterans facing financial hardship during the Easter holiday, according to a news release from Cover Down Fund founder Herm Breuer, former director of the Trumbull County VSC.
“We recognize that our veteran community represents the very best of who we are as Americans. It is our hope that this small gesture helps provide stability and support, empowering those we serve to continue making a meaningful impact here in the Mahoning Valley,” Breuer said.
Since the nonprofit’s launch on Veterans Day in 2025, it has delivered more than $10,000 in direct assistance to veterans.
