Warrant issued for clerk of courts employee

WARREN — Trumbull County Common Pleas Court Judge Sarah Kovoor issued a warrant for the arrest of Vanessa Clark on Tuesday after she failed to appear for her arraignment hearing.

Clark was indicted last week on one count of felony theft in office and felony counts of tampering with records for offenses she is alleged to have committed in her job with the Trumbull County Clerk of Courts office.

Clark, 59, of McDonald Avenue in Niles, was scheduled for arraignment Tuesday morning, but did not appear for the hearing, court officials said. It resulted in Kovoor issuing a capias, a type of warrant for Clark’s arrest.

The theft in office is a fourth-degree felony, punishable by up to 18 months in prison. Tampering with records is a third-degree felony, punishable by up to three years in prison each.

The offenses were alleged to have taken place May 1, according to court documents.

Trumbull County Clerk of Courts Randy Law said last week that Clark is an employee of the clerk of courts Auto Title Department, and she was placed on unpaid administrative leave as of Dec. 10.

Prior to the indictment, she was on paid administrative leave pending an investigation.

Starting at $3.23/week.
