WHAT: City park board October and November meetings
PRESENT: Heidi Barker, Jaclyn Gerberry and Harry Salapata
The board:
• Heard from Park Director Mark Pallante he received a request to have nighttime disc golf at Stevens Park. He spoke to city officials and decided it would not be a good idea based on the way the course is configured. Pallante said the terrain is too dangerous with homes surrounding the park and would disrupt families.
• Accepted Riverside Park as part of the city park district. The park off East Park Avenue and Langley Street consists of a boat, canoe and kayak launch, paved parking, pavilion, playground and restrooms.
• Approved bleachers with cement pads at each outfield of the baseball fields. The cement pads prevent the bleachers from sinking and having weeds grow under them.
• Heard from Pallante about repairs to the electric at both pavilions and painting the two park cabins.
• Approved Protect-A-Cote for the Waddell Park track improvements at $129,800.
• Heard from Pallante of issues with people taking their dogs on the splash pad and the ballfields.
• Accepted donations of four bleachers that will be used in the outfields of the baseball fields. Each is 21-feet long and has three rows. Foxconn and the police department have donated bleachers.
• Heard from Pallante six trees and 14 stumps are scheduled to be removed from Stevens Park.
• Were informed a resident was at Kennedy Park on a motorbike doing wheelies on the dock, causing damage. Pallante said he will talk to city officials about security cameras.
• Approved a gymnastics competition March 14 and 15 at the center by the Ohio Gymnastics Institute.
