Hubbard Township selects two new trustees
HUBBARD TOWNSHIP — Township residents were going to welcome a pair of “new” trustees Tuesday night — it was just a question of who.
Eric Lamb received 41% of the vote and Monica Baker received 31%, while Russell Speerbrecher received 28%, according to complete but unofficial results from the Trumbull County Board of Elections.
A pair of vacant spots will be filled as Trustee Bill Colletta chose not to run again and Baker took over the remainder of former trustee Rick Hernandez’s term.
Lamb, a 1998 Hubbard High School graduate and business owner who returned to the township in May, said he was excited to win — expressing thanks to his neighbors, family and friends and the voters for trusting him.
He said it was an honor to earn a majority of the votes, adding it was “truly a humbling moment.”
“I ran for this role because I believe Hubbard Township deserves leadership that listens, acts with transparency, and works hard to keep our township safe, fiscally responsible, and responsive,” Lamb said in a statement.
Lamb said he plans to meet with township staff, first responders and fellow board members to “hit the ground running,” welcoming any input from residents who wish to share ideas to make the township stronger.
Baker, a former chairperson of the township’s zoning commission, was appointed as a trustee by Trumbull County Probate Court Judge James Fredericka earlier this year to fill the remainder of former trustee Rick Hernandez’s term. Hernandez was elected Trumbull County Commissioner in November 2024 after defeating Niki Frenchko.
Baker was not available for comment Tuesday night.
Baker said in October that if she got elected, she looks to continue watching over what happens with the potential elimination of property taxes in the state.
She said if she’s still watching over the zoning department, she hopes to continue managing the list of properties the township will propose for demolition.
Additionally, she said she’d like to focus on grants, noting there have been ones available for the police and road departments.
