Double homicide victims identified
Staff report
WARREN — Police have released the names of two people shot and killed in a car in the city, and now investigators are looking into why one victim’s vehicle was found burning days later.
The victims were identified as Wendy Michelle Miller, of Niles, and Richard Joe Bunch Jr. of Warren. They were found dead late Saturday night with multiple gunshot wounds inside a parked car in the 2500 block of Jackson Street SW.
Officers arrived around 10:48 p.m. after reports of a serious injury. Emergency workers pronounced both dead at the scene. Police say the shooting involved a firearm, but they have not named any suspects.
On Tuesday, Miller’s 2003 Honda Accord was discovered on fire in a driveway in the same block of Jackson Street, between two homes.
The car was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters got there. Police cleared out people from nearby houses for safety, and crews put out the fire.
An investigator from the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s office was called to check if the car fire was arson. It’s not clear if the blaze is connected to the killings.
