Austintown woman facing arson charge accused of fleeing police

NILES — A 32-year-old Austintown woman will appear in Niles Municipal Court before Judge Christopher Shaker on a felony charge of fleeing and eluding, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for today. She pleaded not guilty at her arraignment Tuesday, where she was given a $200,000 bond.

Police say Victoria K. Dobroka, of Westgate Boulevard, who had an active warrant for failing to appear at a pre-trial hearing in an arson case in Warren, had been spotted by a bondsman. When officers attempted to stop her, she fled and crashed into a utility pole.

Dobroka faces a first-degree arson charge for allegedly setting a fire that caused $25,000 in damage to a two-story home in the 700 block of Homewood Avenue SE on March 17.

According to Warren fire Chief Ken Nussle, firefighters responded at 10:04 a.m. and found heavy fire damage at the first-floor entrance and stairway, with flames spreading to the second-floor stairwell. Heat and smoke damage affected the rest of the home.

No injuries were reported, as the occupants were not present.

Dobroka was arrested near the scene of the incident.

Starting at $3.23/week.
