HOWLAND — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that happened just after 4 p.m. Sunday.

According to a news release, Alexander Elonen, 34, of Warren, was riding a 2021 Kawasaki motorcycle southbound on Larchmont Avenue, approaching the intersection of North River Road. He proceeded into the intersection and struck a 2017 Kia Sorento, operated by Julie Lowry, 58, of Warren, who was traveling northbound on the same road and turning left onto North River Road, the report states.

Elonen was transported by Howland Township EMS to St. Joseph Warren Hospital, where he died of his injuries despite wearing a helmet. No other injuries were reported.
