Woman wanted in human trafficking case after missing arraignment

A warrant has been issued for a 55-year-old woman from Flushing, New York after she failed to appear for arraignment Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

Furong Li faces charges stemming from a human trafficking raid at 3C Foot Spa in Hubbard, a business located in a building owned by Trumbull County Commissioner Rick Hernandez.

Li was scheduled to appear before Judge Ronald Rice but did not show up, prompting the court to issue an arrest warrant. Her attorney, present at the hearing, told the judge he was unsure whether Li had been properly notified of the court date.

The charges against Li, solicitation, promoting prostitution, and practicing medicine without a license, follow her arrest in late February during a raid at the 3C Foot Spa on Youngstown Hubbard Road.

The operation, conducted by Hubbard city police in collaboration with the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, uncovered evidence of commercial sex trafficking.

Police seized cellphones, computers, ledgers and cash during the search.

The investigation began in February 2023, with the task force assisting after initial findings by local police.

Li posted a $5,000 bond about one week after her February arrest, according to jail records.

Starting at $3.23/week.
