WHAT: Board of education meeting June 30
PRESENT: Kevin Blair, Tami Morrison, Dan Denman, Tom Donaldson and Dan Schwartz
The board:
• Approved a three-year agreement with 35 nonteaching staff represented by Ohio Association of Public School Employees which includes secretaries, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, maintenance personnel and educational aides. Officials said the workers will receive a 3% pay increase each year of the contract effective July 1 to June 30, 2028.
• Approved an agreement with Alta Care Group for two preschool units of 20 children each, with one unit at the high school in Mecca and the other at the elementary school in Johnston.
• Hired Heidi Spicher as a sixth-grade math teacher and Chloe Ryhal as a sixth-grade language arts teacher.
• Approved Roberta Wilson as a special education supervisor at $83,000 on a shared contract with McDonald schools. Both districts will split Wilson's costs.
• Reported the district is waiting for the delivery of two HVAC cooling units for the elementary school to replace two 25-year-old units. The units have been ordered.
