WHAT: Trumbull Career / Technical Center board of education meeting June 26
The board:
• Accepted a $10,000 donation from the Italian Scholarship League Inc., to be used to partner with Second Harvest Food Bank to provide cooking classes for middle school students for a positive behavior program. Superintendent Jason Gray said staff at the center will teach free cooking classes for grades 5-7 made possible by Second Harvest Food Bank, which will make a $10,000 donation for the program.
• Approved an agreement with Homes for Kids to provide licensed and credential school social workers to work with students.
• Approved an agreement with Learn Well for educational services for students in treatment facilities. Officials said this allows students to stay enrolled in school and earn credits with learning off site.
• Reported the district received an additional $37,000 in Perkins Foundation funds bringing the total to $741,400 for the center.
• An announced open houses for students for the new school year will be held Aug. 13-14.
• Approved Jeffrey Maughn to work with the landscape design program for the summer at $10.70 per hour.
• Accepted the resignation of Kelly Semple as paraprofessional after three years. She has accepted a position with Warren City Schools.

WHAT: Board of education meeting June 25
PRESENT: Danielle Scherer, Angela Campana, Mark Harper, Jennifer Nicholas and Taylor Pease
The board:
• Heard from Harper that new flooring has been installed in the high school library and landscaping has been done around both school buildings. Superintendent Ashley Handrych said other work this summer is asphalt parking lot work at the high school and stadium, and HVAC rooftop unit removal at the high school with new units to be installed this month. Pantalone Sealcoating is the paving contractor.
• Accepted a $7,000 donation from Cortland Moose Lodge.
• Hired Heidi Bair as a United Way grant tutor.
• Approved 10 additional days for incoming treasurer Terry Armstrong to work in July. He officially begins Aug. 1.
• Approved Cadence Care Network to provide social work and behavioral health support for students.
