Drug arrest leads to guilty plea

WARREN — A Warren man pleaded guilty to a seven-count indictment connected to an investigation by the Warren police Street Crimes Unit.

Dwight E. Williams, 27, of Solar Drive NW, pleaded guilty to four counts of trafficking in a fentanyl-

related compound, one count of possession of cocaine and two counts possession of fentanyl-related compound.

Williams will be sentenced July 7 by Common Pleas Judge Ronald J. Rice after Williams undergoes a background investigation conducted by probation officers.

Prosecutors said Williams was charged after a Street Crimes Unit investigation that began in 2020. Williams was charged with selling small amounts of substances containing fentanyl to a confidential informer. After the drug sales, the Street Crimes Unit executed a search warrant on Williams’ home and found 20 grams of cocaine, 19 grams of fentanyl and 2.5 grams of other substances containing fentanyl, prosecutors said.

As part of the plea deal, which headed off a scheduled June 6 trial in the case, Williams agreed to forfeit $37,962 in cash, a firearm and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia found by Street Crimes officers during the raid. Prosecutors said the county will get to keep about a fourth of the cash seized.

Williams, who was recently put on probation for a failure to comply conviction, will remain in Trumbull County jail until sentencing, records show.
