Chinese eatery closes doors

WARREN – The operators of Girard Wok and the two men who own the building that holds the Chinese restaurant have agreed to keep it closed until violations of the state’s fire code are fixed.

The agreement filed Monday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court is the result of a lawsuit filed by Girard that sought a temporary restraining order to shut down the business after an inspection revealed grease had accumulated in the ductwork, hood fans and other equipment.

Common Pleas Judge Peter Kontos granted the restraining order and shut down the restaurant on West Liberty Street on Dec. 1, following the filing of the lawsuit, for 14 days and extended the order through Monday at the request of the operators and building owners.

The fire code violations have not been corrected.

The restaurant property and rental property above the business is owned by Daniel Camuso and George Thomas, who were named in the lawsuit, and the Girard Wok is operated by Sue Zhang and Xin Xiang Zheng, who also were named in the suit. Camuso, Thomas, Zhang and Zheng also signed off on the judgment entry that indefinitely closes the restaurant.

The lawsuit followed two recent inspections by a city fire safety inspector.

Starting at $3.23/week.
