Trumbull considers adjusting bed-tax rules

WARREN — The Trumbull County Commissioners are considering applying the county’s bed tax on Airbnbs and short-term rentals. Trumbull now charges a 5% bed tax on short-term lease organizations that have five or more beds. Champion to add 3 firefighters with SAFER grant

CHAMPION — For the first time since 1982, the township will be hiring three new full-time firefighters/emergency medical technicians, which is being made possible by an Assistance to Firefighting Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant. Fire Chief Thomas Dempsey said at Tuesday’s trustees meeting that the passage of the 2.65-mill, five-year fire levy on the May primary ballot will supply the necessary local match for the SAFER grant to support the township’s fire and emergency medical services.
