Hospitals in state see rise in open beds

While the percentage of available hospital beds increased in the state between Sept. 17 and Friday, most of the hospitals in the Mahoning Valley still are experiencing relatively high capacity. The data was obtained in a public records lawsuit by Eye on Ohio, the Ohio Center for Journalism that collaborates with news organizations across the state to share data and search for evidence-based solutions. The state has exceeded 1.4 million COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic, while it will surpass 50 percent of its residents being fully vaccinated today. After four straight days of declining COVID-19 cases reported, the number significantly increased Tuesday.
