Howland bands to play concert

BAND-O-RAMA: The Howland Tiger Band will host a Band-O-Rama Unleash the Roar at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Howland High School gymnasium. Every band from grades 5-12 will participate, including a Caribbean ensemble, jazz band, pep band, drum line and grand finale with all students participating. The event will have concessions available. Admission is free.

CLUB TO MEET: The Warren Music Club, a member of the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs and the National Federation of Music Clubs, will meet at 3 p.m. Sunday at the home of Karl and Jeannine Morris. The program is open to the public. Students from Amanda Beagle’s voice studio in Howland will present the program. These students are participating in the festival sponsored by OFMC at the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University on March 7. They will perform their required number by an American composer and a choice number they have prepared for the festival. Members and guests will sing “The Federation Junior Hymn” accompanied by Karen Hunt. Students will lead everyone in the repetition of the Junior Pledge and the Junior Collect. The program will close with the Federation Benediction “The Gift of Song” by Lana Bailey, past president of NFMC, accompanied by Elaine Maki. Refreshments will be served by Alix Hannon and Pat Preusser following the program.

ALZHEIMER SUPPORT: Alzheimer Network support group will meet at 6 p.m. today at Guiding Light Presbyterian Church, 890 Churchill Hubbard Road, Girard. Due to winter weather, dangerous road conditions and a recently announced flu variant, the group is initiating a “call-in reservation policy” for those who wish to attend one of the regularly announced support groups. The alternative method to reach the Alzheimer Network is to call 330-788-9755 anytime to speak about concerns.

MENS NIGHT OUT: The Yellow Brick Place Cancer Support Center will host Men’s Night Out, a community health education event, on March 4 at Leo’s Ristorante in Howland. The event will focus on providing honest conversations about men’s health topics that are often difficult to discuss. The evening will feature medical professionals addressing prostate cancer prevention and detection, erectile dysfunction, general wellness, pain management alternatives and more. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., followed by a complimentary dinner at 6 p.m. Registration is required by Thursday. For information or to register, call 234 228 9550. HEALTH VACCINES: The Warren City Health District will provide a public COVID-19 and flu vaccine clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Warren City Health District 258 E.
