Crafting hearts for Valentines

VALENTINE’S CRAFT DAY: The McKinley Memorial Library will present a DIY folded book heart craft 5:30 to 7 p.m. today at the McKinley Birthplace Home in Niles.

In honor of Valentine’s Day, participants will create a festive heart-shaped work of art by folding the pages of a used book. All supplies will be provided. Registration is required at 330-652-1704, ext. 3.

VALENTINE’S DAY DROP IN: The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library will host a Valentine’s Day drop-in 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday. The event is for families with children ages 3 and older. There will be crafts and games based on the Bluey Heeler family.

MONTHLY SQUARE DANCE: The Friendly Squares will host its monthly square dance 7:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Niles SCOPE Center, 14 E. State St. Gene Hammond will be the caller. Valentines will be the theme for the dance. This will be a Hi / Lo dance with alternating tips for new dancers taking lessons and tips for more experienced dancers. Dress is casual. MUSEUM OPEN HOUSE: The Butts Family Museum, 4562 Wilson Sharpsville Road, Fowler, will host an America250-Ohio themed open house 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday. The public can learn about the history of Fowler Township and the Butts family.

MUSEUM OPEN HOUSE: The Leavittsburg Heritage Museum, 4901 W. Market St., will host its monthly open house 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Visitors can learn about the history of Leavittsburg and Warren Township.

RESCUE MISSION BENEFIT: The Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley will host its annual benefit dinner Feb. 20 at Waypoint 4180 in Canfield.

This year’s fundraising event will feature two seating options, a breakfast and an evening dinner. Both seatings will include a meal, live jazz during the meal and opportunities for fellowship with supporters of the Rescue Mission.

Breakfast tickets are $50 with an open seating format. Doors open at 9 a.m. and the program begins at 9:30 a.m. Dinner tickets are $75 with a reserved seating format. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 6:30 p.m.
