SUPPORT GROUP MEET: The Youngstown Area Scleroderma Support Group will meet at 5:30 p.m. today by Zoom. The meeting is open to the public and focuses on issues of people affected in all ways by scleroderma. WACKADOO WEEKEND: A Wackadoo Weekend will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Howland Library Branch, 9095 E. Market St., Warren, for children ages 3 to 12. Children will be able to take part in activities, crafts and refreshments. The program is free. WELLNESS ON WHEELS: The Warren city health district’s Wellness on Wheels will be onsite from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Greater Apostolic Faith alongside the Trumbull Mobile Market, 3571 Tod Ave. NW, Warren. The Wellness of Wheels will be onsite from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Rural King, 2485 Parkman Road NW, Warren.
The health district will be providing a public COVID / flu vaccine clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at the health district, third floor, 258 E. Market St., Warren.
A Cribs for Kids class will be held at 2 p.m. today at the health district. For information call 330-841-2596.
TREE RECYCLING: The sixth annual community Christmas tree recycling event is being offered Thursday and Friday for residents of Mahoning and Trumbull counties. Express Junk Removal is providing the service. Registration is required online at https://expressjunkremoval.com/ freechristmastreepickup. Guidelines for pickup is trees must be placed at curbside the night before pickup and all decorations, lights, and ornaments must be removed from the tree. No artificial trees or wreaths.
GIRARD LIBRARY PROGRAMS: The Girard Free Library will welcome Angie Alberni, certified personal trainer and fitness nutrition expert at noon Saturday to discuss healthy eating habits. We will discuss reading nutrition labels and planning balanced meals. All ages are welcome. Registration is required at the library or by calling 330-545-2508 .
The library is offering a Dungeons and Dragons program at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Beginners are welcome. Call or visit the library to register.
McKINLEY LIBRARY EVENTS: Upcoming events at the McKinley Memorial Library in Niles include KIds Club: Marbled Paper at 3:30 p.m. Thursday for children ages 5 to 11. The program is held the first and third Thursday of each month at the McKinley Birthplace Home and has activities related to STEAM. Cookbook Club will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the McKinley Birthplace Home. Cookbook fans are invited to discuss a new cookbook or theme each month. This month’s theme is macaroni and cheese.
Book Bedazzling will be offered from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday for ages 12 and older at the McKinley Birthplace Home. Each participant will use colorful rhinestones to embellish the cover of your book. Bring your favorite book. All supplies will be provided. Registration is required at 330-652-1704, ext. 3.
GAS STATION CLEANUPS: Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership is seeking funding through the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Brownfield cleanup grant for five abandoned gas stations owned by the Trumbull County Land Bank.
The properties are located at 2855 Tod Ave. SW, Warren, 3624 Main St., Mineral Ridge, 1645 E. Main St., West Farmington, 2904 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, and 1426 Niles Road SE, Warren.
TNP is committed to address the environmental hazard and community blight caused by the abandoned properties and seeks to return them to public use.
