BOYS BASKETBALL

Berkshire 58, Brookfield 42 – Billy Verbic knocked down four 3-pointers and scored 18 points overall for Berkshire. Caden McGranahan added 13. For Brookfield, Blake Hammond led the way with 18 points.

Lake Center Christian 54, Warren JFK 46 – Noah Harper scored 21 to lead Lake Center Christian. B. Zook added 18 points. JFK was led by Henry Phillipd with 25 points.

Campbell 42, Struthers 37 – Keniel Alvarez had 11 points to lead Campbell. Bobby Rameriz added 10 for the Devils, in a tightly contested matchup. Struthers was led by Jimmy Shaffer with 13 points.

Maplewood 74, Champion 48 – Ethan Nevinski led Maplewood with 13 points. David Kern added 12 for the Rockets. Tyson Webster was also in double figures with 11 points. Champion was led by Marky Nolan with 17 points and Damien Wickham with 13.

Newton Falls 62, Lakeview 44 – Drayson Moore was one of four Newton Falls players in double figures, leading the way with 16 points. Dallas Dillon (13), Phil Davis (12), and Dallas Dunlap (10) also reached double digit scoring for the Tigers. Isaiah Lantz led all scorers with 20 points, including three 3’s for Lakeview. Tracy Goyzvetta added 11 for the Bulldogs.

Gilmour Academy 78, Ursuline 73 – Gilmour Academy (9-0) remained unbeaten behind 45 points from Brody Durham. Durham knocked down six 3-pointers. Brayden Titas added 17 for the Lancers, who trailed 31-23 at halftime. Ursuline (7-2) was led by Jaylen Gunther, who scored 40 for the Irish. Noah Bell was also hot for the Irish, scoring 26 points, including three 3’s.

Heartland Christian 90, Lisbon 66 – Collin Kalahar had a game high 30 points for the high powered Heartland Christian offense. Isiahs Matthews added 14 points and Corbin Santu had 12. The Lions also got 10 points from Brody Conaway. Lisbon was led by AJ Ramgeet with 21 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Blaine Barned added 15 for the Blue Devils.

Canfield 57, West Branch 47 – Jace Riccardo led Canfield with 20 points. Joey Gabriel and Landon Shina added nine each for the Cardinals. Gavin Gregory paced West Branch with 17 points. Kasen Weaver added 11 points and Jeremiah Thomas had 10.

Salem 48, Crestview 44 – Owen Davidson scored 13 points to lead Salem. Ty Manion and Devontay Steele added 10 points each for the Quakers. Elijah Cope knocked down four 3-pointers and scored 20 points overall to lead Crestview. Isaac Unkefer added 12 for the Rebels.

Cardinal Mooney 49, Valley Christian 45 – Kingston Powell was hot from 3-point range, sinking five from long range and scoring 19 overall for Mooney. Dante Turner added 15 for the Cardinals and Ford Stacy had 10 points. Valley Christian was led by Deion Miller with 22 points, including five 3’s.

East Canton 53, Southern Local 21 – Rayshawn Heard had 24 points to lead East Canton. Owen McCroskey added 10 points and nine rebounds. Southern was led by Aiden Davis with 13 points and four rebounds.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Niles 61, Badger 31 – Kherington Stanford scored 27 points to lead Niles in a big victory over Badger. Caroline Cornell added 13 for the Dragons. Riley Thomas led Badger with 11.

Hubbard 50, Jefferson 26 – Chloe Cicero scored 16 points and dished five assists to lead Hubbard. Cicero knocked down four 3-pointers. Layla Songer added 12 points and a pair of 3’s for the Eagles. Grace Dzura had eight points overall and two 3-pointers for Jefferson.

Mineral Ridge 62, Cardinal Mooney 27 – Sullivan Sandy had a game high 25 points, as Mineral Ridge dominated against Mooney. Kylee Molnar added 11 points and Ginna Gilbert added 10 markers for the Rams.

Chalker 50, Lisbon 35 – Abby Grimm poured in 15 points to lead Chalker. Tatum Hudak and Julia Ross added 10 points each for the Wildcats. Lisbon was led by Sophia Brown with nine points.

Lakeview 47, LaBrae 45 – Lakeview (6-2) battled back from a six point deficit entering the fourth quarter to hand LaBrae (9-2) just their second loss of the season. Mackenzie Stowe led the Bulldogs with 10 points, but Annie Humphrey came up huge for Lakeview, scoring all seven of her points in the fourth quarter. Ally Magoulick led Labrae with 14 points. Ella Kuszmaul added 12 points and Angel Scruggs had 11 for the Vikings.

Carrollton 63, Howland 45 – Emma Shafer had 21 points to lead Carrollton. Kamryn Shaw added 10 points. Howland was led by the duo of Mia Thomas (14 points) and Maya Kubancsek (13).

Crestview 72, Girard 65 – Addison Rhodes was on fire, scoring 43 points for Crestview in a come from behind win after trailing 35-31 at halftime. . Rhodes also put in five 3-pointers. The Rebels got 13 points from Ava Buccy and 10 from Brianna Baker. Girard was led by Caylee Wilkes with 17 points. The Indians also got big games from Ally Gassman (15 points) and Janaya Riley (14).

Columbiana 40, South Range 35 – Evalyn Rapp scored 16 to lead Columbiana. Sophia Lucente scored nine for South Range.

Canfield 65, Streetsboro 27 – Carly Fleming scored 21 points to lead Canfield (10-2). Jenna Havrilla added 12 for the Cardinals and Sofia Castronova had 11 points and seven assists. Lorieona Jannone added six assists and Noelle Sahli led the Cardinals with six rebounds. Carlee Bedford led Streetsboro with seven points.

Salem 44, Woodridge 32 – Abby Knickerbocker scored 26 points to lead the Salem offense. Madd Andres added nine points for the Quakers. Karlie Sampson added seven rebounds and four points and Garyn Rohm was also strong on the glass with seven rebounds. Addy Hengstenberger led Woodridge with nine points.

The Howland girls placed fifth amongst tough competition. The Lady Tigers finished with 236 points.

WRESTLING

The Howland wrestling team placed fifth at the Tool City Tournament. Multiple Tigers had dominant performances. Brayden Cortese took first at 114 lbs., scoring 24 team points. At 127 lbs., Patrick Neff took fourth place, scoring three falls and scoring 18 team points. Deacon Mock also finished fourth place, in the 145 lb. division, scoring 15 team points. At 152 lbs. Aiden O’Donnell earned third place, totaling 17.5 points for the Tigers. Eddie Morrison finished third at 160 lbs., including a pinfall victory in the third place match. Rounding out the lineup, Owen Dreher finished third at 215 lbs. for the Tigers, recording three falls on the day, including a pinfall in the third place match.
