Mission sets food giveaway

FOOD GIVEAWAY: The Warren Family Mission is hosting an emergency food giveaway starting at 10 a.m. Saturday and continuing while supplies last. The event will take place at the Trumbull County Fairgrounds Gate A, 4181 Hoagland Blackstub Road in Bazetta. The mission is prepared to serve up to 1,000 cars. No registration is required. This is a drive-thru event and all community members in need are welcome.
NONPERISHABLE COLLECTION: The Bazetta police and fire departments and Ohio State Highway Patrol will host a nonperishable food drive collection 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Walmart on Elm Road in Bazetta.
COMMUNITY MEAL: Thomas Valent will host the first annual free community takeout meal 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the Packard Shelter House, 1701 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren. The food is prepared by DiLucia’s Catering.
FOOD FOR VETERANS: The Cover Down Fund will distribute free turkeys and pumpkin pies to local veterans at noon in the parking lot of the Trumbull County Veterans Service Commission, 253 E. Market St., Warren. Items will be distributed while supplies last. This initiative is part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to supporting the health, wellness and community connection of those who have served. Veterans wishing to participate must present proof of military service, which may include a current military ID, a VA identification card, a county veteran ID, or an Ohio driver’s license with the Armed Forces designation.
“We’re honored to give back to the men and women who have given so much to our country,” said Herm Breuer, founder of the Cover Down Fund. “This is a simple way of saying thank you and ensuring our veterans feel supported during the holiday season.”
STUFF THE VETTE: The Mahoning Valley Corvette Club will host a “Stuff the Vette” food drive Thursday at the Greenwood Chevrolet Hummer Building on Mahoning Avenue in Austintown. People can drop off nonperishable food items for Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley starting at 4:30 p.m.
ORNAMENT FUNDRAISER: The Bazetta Township Imagination Station fundraiser for the play area is a commemorative ornament sale, with ornaments $7 each. To order, call 330-637-8816.
BOOK CLUB: The McKinley Memorial Library will present Mystery Readers’ Book Club at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the McKinley Birthplace Home. Participants will discuss “We Solve Murders” by Richard Osman.

SURVIVORS SUPPORT: The Brain Injury Family Education and Survivors Support Group meets 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. the third Thursday of every month at Howland United Methodist Church, 730 Howland Wilson Road. The support group is free and available to all survivors, family members and / or caregivers. The support group offers socialization, and fundamental information and education about brain injury and common challenges facing survivors and families.
