Seeing Eye: Halloween weekends at Mosquito Lake
HALLOWEEN WEEKENDS: The Friends of Mosquito Lake State Park will host their Halloween weekends from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday and Oct. 4 at the campgrounds entrance area. There will be crafts, naturalist activities, family-fun sports and pumpkin carving.
FARMERS MARKET: Southington Township will host a fall farmers market from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the Chalker Building property west of the township center. A storytime for children will be held at 11 a.m. at the Chalker Building
RIBBON CUTTING: The Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber and the Braceville African American Heritage Museum will host a celebratory ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. Saturday at the museum, 1250 Cedars St. SW, Braceville.
The museum offers an historical and educational platform centered around key cultural narratives such as Underground Railroad, the Great Migration and the lives of Braceville African Americans.
WALK WITH A DOC: Youngstown State University’s Bitonte College of Health and Human Services continues its commitment to public health through the Walk with a Doc program, a free community wellness initiative at the Southern Park Mall.
The program takes place from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday and is led by YSU physical therapy faculty and students. Each session begins with a brief health talk before participants join in a walk around the mall. The events are designed to promote fitness, wellness and preventive care in a fun and social environment.
Walk with a Doc is part of an international nonprofit founded in 2005 to encourage healthier lifestyles through movement and conversation with medical professionals. The walks are free and open to the public. All ages and fitness levels are welcome, and no registration is required.
“SCREAM FOR SCREENINGS”: The Warren City Health District will participate in a “Scream for Screenings” Community-wide Job, Health and Resource Fair, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Metroplex Expo Center, 1620 Motor Inn Drive, Girard. For more information, call 330-841-2596.
VACCINE CLINIC: The Warren City Health District, 258 E. Market St., will provide a public Flu Vaccine Clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
