Church hosting 3rd fall festival

FALL FEST: St. Rose Catholic Church will present the third annual Fall Fest from 5 to 11 p.m. Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church and grounds off U.S. Route 422 in Girard. There will be entertainment, homemade food, gift card raffle, children’s games, cake walk and musical performances with Jim Frank Trio, Blue Siren and Disco Inferno. A cornhole tournament will be 5:30 p.m. Saturday at $20 per player. The registration deadline is 5 p.m. Saturday. Cash prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place.

BAZETTA COMMUNITY DAY: The Bazetta Community Day fun family event will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Mijavec’s Catering and Concessions, 2193 Wilson Sharpsville Road. There will be a basket raffle fundraiser with proceeds to benefit Bazetta Park improvements. The event will include food in addition to Bob and Kat’s Lil Kritters animal show.

MEN’S WEEK CELEBRATION: The Men of Grace AME Church, 1137 Main Ave. SW, Warren, will present a Men’s Week Celebration 6 p.m. daily Monday to Sept. 21 This year’s theme is “Operation Uplift.” Events will include health and wellness, citywide men’s musical, fish fries and jazz. Guests during the week include Dr. Ruth Quarles, 7 17 Credit Union and Mayor William Doug Franklin, who will serve as Sunday morning worship speaker at 10 am. Sept. 21. The congregation is led by Pastor Shane K. Floyd.

SUICIDE AWARENESS WALK: The second annual Suicide Awareness Prevention and Postvention Walk will take place Saturday at the Brookfield schools football field. The event will raise for continued projects in the five-county area. The event will include music and basket raffles. For information, contact Amy at 330-506-1232.

SCRAP METAL DRIVE: Delightful Evangelical Church, 2472 Barclay Messerly Road, Southington, will hold a scrap metal drive 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 17 and 18. Contact Connie at 330-399-4395. Items not being accepted are steel food cans, tires, foil food containers, Styrofoam and plastic bags.

OPEN HOUSE: Creekside Gardens, 3680 N. River Road, Warren, will hold a fall open house 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. today and Sept. 13 and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sept. 20. The event will include vendor booths, children’s bounce house and refreshments.

CLEANUP DAY: The public can help kick off the first 422 United: Clean and Green, a cross-city effort bringing together Youngstown and Girard to beautify the community. The event will take place 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 20, in the 422 Briar Hill area, along U.S. Route 422 / Martin Luther King Boulevard and nearby streets. Register for an event T-shirt. Check-in time is at 8:30 a.m. Lunch will follow at Stambaugh Park, 199 Mosier Road, Girard.
