Seeing Eye: Youth-led summer market set
INSPIRING MINDS MARKETS: This summer, more than 300 students in the Mahoning Valley participated in Inspiring Minds’ six-week summer enrichment program. Both the Warren and Youngstown chapters of Inspiring Minds will culminate their programs with the annual youth-led summer markets 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at 837 Woodland St. NE, Warren, and noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at 2110 South Ave., Youngstown. The summer markets will highlight what IM students learned about entrepreneurship by showcasing 30-plus “businesses” they created throughout the summer program. In attendance at the event will be parents, family members, community supporters and committed partners.
FARM BUREAU EVENT: The Trumbull County Farm Bureau invites local farmers, elected officials and community members to a policy luncheon at 11 a.m. July 31 at Bortnick Tractor, 6192 Warren Road in Cortland. The event will offer an opportunity to discuss local, state and national issues that affect agriculture, rural communities and the overall quality of life in Trumbull County. Attendees will participate in open discussion and provide input that will help shape the organization’s grassroots policy development process. RSVP is needed by July 28. COOKIE DECORATING: The Girard MultiGenerational Center, Trumbull Avenue, will host cookie decorating at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the center’s coffee bar.
CHILDREN’S WORKSHOP: The Girard Free Library will host a free hands-on Perler Beads workshop for children ages 6 to 11 at 2 p.m. Friday. Registration is needed for the craft event.
FUNDRAISING EVENT: Tips for a Cause will be 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Darlene Lounge with 100% of tips and a portion of bar sales benefitting Rebel Rescue Ranch in Berlin Center, which is a nonprofit that helps small domestic animals in need. There will be a hula hoop contest, basket raffle and ice cream truck. Costumes are encouraged.
GROWING UP MCKINLEY: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will host the Kent Trumbull Theater production of “Growing Up McKinley” at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the McKinley Birthplace Home in Niles. Participants will watch a young McKinley on his journey to become the 25th president of the United States. Limited seating is available.
SUMMER READING FINALE: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles will host the summer reading finale at 2 p.m. Saturday at the McKinley Memorial Museum auditorium. Upside Down Fairy Town will feature an interactive puppet show with River City Puppets of all sizes, as well as music and comedy.
