Racino to host expo for seniors, caregivers

NATIONAL WELLNESS MONTH: In celebration of August as National Wellness Month, a Seniors and Caregivers Expo will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course in Youngstown. The event offers a significant opportunity for seniors and caregivers in the Mahoning Valley to access vital resources and support, promoting overall well-being. The event will provide information and support, connecting older adults and their families with a variety of resources. The expo will feature vendors specializing in senior care, healthcare, financial planning, housing, and other essential services. Attendees can connect directly with experts, attend informative presentations, and access valuable resources to enhance their quality of life. There will be giveaways and door prizes

GARAGE SALE FUNDRAISER: St. Vincent de Paul Church is hosting a garage sale fundraiser 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday at 6552 Oak Hill Drive, West Farmington.

Available items include table saw, kids’ toys, DVDs, CDs, jewelry, wall hangings and artwork, Pfaltzgraff dish set, holiday and home decor, kitchen items, lamps, linens, books, games and more. All proceeds benefit local SVdP programs and services.

ITEMS COLLECTION: The McKinley Memorial Library in Niles is collecting items through Thursday for the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County. Items needed include canned cat food, dry kitten food, soft meaty dog treats, hard dog toys, etc. Items can be dropped off at the library or the AWL in Vienna.

DONATIONS NEEDED: Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 28742 North Road NE, Warren, will accept donations 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month for Katharine’s Closet. Items needed are diapers, baby wipes, baby clothes, etc. For information, call 330-647-6402.

GROTTO GOLF SCRAMBLE: Ali Baba Grotto will host a Four-Person Golf Scramble Aug 16 at the Old Avalon Golf Course, 9794 E Market St., Warren. Registration begins at 7 a.m. with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.

Cost is $75 per person and includes golf, beverages, coffee and donuts, lunch and dinner.

The outing will raise money for the Grotto to help special needs children. There will be prizes for first, second and third place.

TRUNK SALE: The St. Mary and St. Joseph Ladies Guild is sponsoring a “Junk in Your Trunk Sale” 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church parking lot, 131 W. Quarry St., Newton Falls. Food will be available for sale. Those wanting to set up a table, the cost is $15 outside and $20 inside. Setup is at 8 a.m.

AUTISM MINI GRANT: The Autism Society of Mahoning Valley is announcing its call for applications for its 9th Annual Autism Teacher Mini Grant Program. Awards will be given in three denominations, $500, $250, and $100, to applicants from public and private schools in Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana counties. Online applications are being accepted at the ASMV website through Friday. The ASMV Board, a group consisting of community members and parents, will review the applications and select the winners in mid-August.
