YSU Wind Ensemble, Concert Band to perform at Stambaugh Auditorium

The Youngstown State University Wind Ensemble and Concert Band will play their fall concert Sunday. The Dana School of Music ensemble will perform a program ranging from traditional marches to contemporary works and holiday favorites. New Music Guild opens 2025-26 season

The New Music Guild’s 23rd Fall Concert opens its 2025-26 season. The guild focuses on performance of works by living composers and sponsors visits by guest composers and performers. The fall concert will feature violinist Brendan Considine and pianist Karen Considine. Brendan Considine plays with the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, Warren Philharmonic Orchestra, Ballet Western Reserve and Greenville Symphony Orchestra. Locally funded workshop leads to Kent exhibition

An exhibition made possible through the Thomas Schroth Visiting Artist Series is on display at Kent State University’s Armstrong Gallery. “Alien Staff” features student work created in collaboration with internationally renowned artist Krzysztof Wodiczko. After speaking at Kent State last spring, Wodiczko returned to lead an immersive workshop with architecture and art students. Brett Young will play a Valentine’s Day show at Packard Music Hall. The show is part of an 18-city headlining tour that starts Jan. 22, 2026, at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. TSO brings ever-changing show to Covelli Centre

Trans-Siberian Orchestra was born with the song “Christmas Eve (Sarajevo 12/24),” recorded by the progressive metal act Savatage for its 1995 album “Dead Winter Dead.” Paul O’Neill, who wrote the song and started TSO, died in 2017, but the drummer on that recording, Jeff Plate, will be behind the kit when TSO returns to the Covelli Centre for two shows on Sunday.
