Stage Left presents ‘Wayside School’ play
Stage Left Players’ “Sideways Stories from Wayside School” will be staged for three performances at Trinity Playhouse, 234 E. Lincoln Way, Lisbon.
The play is based on the novel of the same name by Louis Sachar. It is directed by Christine Martin and will feature a cast of students in grades 5 to 9.
It is made possible through the support of the Lisbon Lions Club, Consumers Bank and the Ohio Arts Council.
Show times are 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for students and senior citizens and are available online at stageleftplayers.org.
New haunted attraction in Canfield for 2026
The Canfield Fairgrounds only will be scare-free for a year.
Operators of Nightmare at the Canfield Scaregrounds announced last month that they were relocating to the former American Freight outlet at 5185 Warren-Youngstown Road, Niles, for Nightmare in Niles. It is scheduled to open on Oct. 2.
On Wednesday promoter Corey Ward, who does the Ribs-n-Rock Festival at DeBartolo Commons and other events at the Canfield Fairgrounds, announced that a new haunted experience called the Canfield FEARgrounds will open there Oct. 2, 2026. It will feature four haunted attractions.
Stambaugh Chorus seeks new members
The Stambaugh Chorus is looking for new members for its 73rd season.
The chorus, directed by Hae-Jong Lee, is made up of singers who donate their time and talent to benefit the organization and the community.
Membership is open to anyone who loves to sing, can carry a tune and learns quickly.

McGuffey presents program on McKinley
Author / historian Paul Rohrbaugh will discuss his new book about President William McKinley for the next William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society Memories of a Lifetime program.
“Favorite Son: The Life and Times of William McKinley” will cover McKinley’s noteworthy events of McKinley’s childhood in Niles and Poland, his service in the Union Army during the Civil War, and his entry into the practice of law and politics.
Rohrbaugh is a retired teacher, librarian and professor of education and is the founder of High Flying Dice Games.
The program starts at 10 a.m. Sept. 20 at Denny’s meeting room, 4020 Belmont Ave., Liberty. Admission is $10 for McGuffey members and $15 for nonmembers. Reservations are suggested and can be made by calling 330-726-8277.
Dana offers open house for students
Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University will have an open house for prospective students and their families from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 15.
“Music Major for a Day” gives students an insider’s view of the YSU performing arts community by allowing them to observe classes, perform with ensembles or choirs, attend panel discussions with current music students and join clinics related to their area of interest.
The open house is free, but advance registration is required at ysu.edu/music-theatre-OH.
