PERI TO MEET: The Public Employee Retirees of Mahoning County Chapter 18 will meet at noon Oct. 7 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 Western Reserve Road, for a cost of $19.

Guest speaker will be Jim Cain, AMBA senior benefits adviser, OH, Medicare / LTC specialist, for Public Employee Retirees Inc. He will advise attendees with open enrollment Medicare & Advantage plans, HRAs, Part D Rx plans and the new Medicare option for spouses or retirees with less than 20 years of service.
The board will be accepting nominations for the offices of vice president and treasurer, prior to the lunch meeting.
The Mahoning County Board of Health will be administering flu shots from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Insurance cards and ID are required. Chapter 18 welcomes the public to attend. Reservations are required.
HOSPICE VOLUNTEERS: Patriot Hospice, a branch of Patriot At Home Youngstown / Warren, 986 Tibbetts Wick Road, Girard, is looking for companionship volunteers to visit with hospice patients and their caregivers, people to do errands and tasks around the house, and administrative duties. YOGA CLASS: Free yoga class at 11 a.m. Saturdays at the Niles Senior Citizens Center, 14 E. State St. Bring a thin yoga mat.
SENIOR SUPPORT: The Senior Support Action Group is a volunteer-based program providing services, including monthly food boxes, transportation to medical appointments and a phone pals companionship program, to homebound seniors in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties.

SCOPE EVENTS: SCOPE Senior Services in Warren, 375 N. Park Ave., offers free knitting lessons at 2 p.m. the first and third Mondays of the month. Trivia games will be played at 2 p.m. on the second and fourth Mondays.
