Thu. 1:36 p.m.: Car rolls over in collision with truck in Howland

HOWLAND --- A rollover automobile accident is stalling and rerouting traffic in the state Route 82 eastbound lanes between state Route 46 and Howland Wilson Road. A tractor-trailer rig and car collided shortly after 1 p.m. near the Route 82 onramp. The car rolled, but the occupant crawled out of the vehicle. Police report that one person was being transported to a hospital for injuries. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is on the scene. More information will be posted after it becomes available.

UPDATE Thur. 2:45 p.m.: Tornado spotted in northwestern Trumbull County

The National Weather Service has extended a tornado warning in the northern western part of Trumbull County until 3:30 p.m. today, according to emergency dispatchers. A tornado has been spotted. A large storm system is moving toward the Howland-Cortland area and producing hail. Schools in the area are following tornado protocols, according to dispatchers. According to school officials in Lakeview and Champion, those districts have delayed the release of students until they have been given the all-clear from officials.

LIBERTY --- Police combed woods into the night Friday for a man who jumped out of a car and ran after crashing into a police cruiser. A Youngstown man was arrested early this morning after police closed in on him in wooded area. Police found two loaded and chambered handguns under the driver's seat of the Buick LeSabre the man abandoned. At least one of the guns had been reported as stolen, according to police reports. The Liberty police officer driving the cruiser was bleeding from the head after the crash and was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, reports ...

LIBERTY — Police combed woods into the night tonight for a man who jumped out of a car and ran after crashing into a police cruiser. Police found two loaded and chambered handguns under the driver's seat of the Buick LeSabre the man abandoned. At least one of the guns had been reported as stolen, according to police reports. Fri. 8:12 p.m.: Liberty road closed in search for crash-with-cruiser suspect

LIBERTY --- Southbound traffic on Loagn Avenue to Tibbetts Wick Road is closed to motorists at this hour as law enforcement are looking for a person involved in a crash with a police cruiser about 7:30 p.m. The person jumped out of a vehicle and disappeared into a wooded area. A K-9 unit now is on the scene and a helicopter was called. A Liberty police officer was injured in the crash. Police found a loaded gun --- later discovered to have been stolen --- in the car the person abandoned. Details remain sketchy while the hunt continues. Updates will be posted.

UPDATE: Thu. 11:21 a.m.: 4 dead in Cincinnati bank shooting

CINCINNATI (AP) — Police say four people are dead, including the gunman, in a downtown Cincinnati bank shooting. Police Chief Eliot Isaac said the shooter opened fire this morning at the loading dock of the Fifth Third Bank building. Isaac said the gunman then entered the bank's lobby, and exchanged gunfire with police. It's unclear if the gunman shot himself or was shot by officers. One of the victims died at the scene. Cincinnati Mayor John Cranley said the gunman was "actively shooting innocent victims" and that it was a horrific scene.
