ANNUAL EVENT IN MCDONALD: The 46th annual John Pete Checkers tournament will take place 1 p.m. today at the Woodland Park pavilion, McDonald. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m. The winner of each age group will receive a prize awarded at the conclusion of the tournament. McDonald Homecoming Festival set

MCDONALD HOMECOMING FESTIVAL: McDonald will host its annual summer homecoming festival Wednesday through Friday at Woodland Park off Ohio Avenue 6 to 11 p.m nightly. The festival will include bingo, amusement rides, games, food vendors and entertainment. The Run of the Mill race will be at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday followed by a parade at 6 p.m. along Ohio Avenue.
