McDonald Homecoming Festival set

MCDONALD HOMECOMING FESTIVAL: McDonald will host its annual summer homecoming festival Wednesday through Friday at Woodland Park off Ohio Avenue 6 to 11 p.m nightly. The festival will include bingo, amusement rides, games, food vendors and entertainment. The Run of the Mill race will be at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday followed by a parade at 6 p.m. along Ohio Avenue. On Saturday, there will be games and activities for children starting at 11 a.m. Fireworks will be at 10:15 p.m. Saturday to close the festival.

DARK ROOM: The Girard Free Library will host the Dark Room Society at 6 p.m. Monday with a program “Worst Case Scenario” with a series of horror movies on a zombie apocalypse. At 2 p.m. on Tuesday, children ages 2 to 11 will be able to build their own wormery, which is a home for worms. Registration for both is needed at 330-545-2508.

STRAWBERRY FESTIVAL: The Niles Rotary Club will have a strawberry festival from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday on the lawn at the McKinley Memorial Library in Niles. Those attending can bring a lawn chair or blanket for the concert. The event will include a basket raffle, 50-50 and ice cream with strawberries while supplies last. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Rotary’s scholarship program for Niles McKinley High School. The concert is at 6:30 p.m. with Random Strangers, who play authentic country music.

WARREN TOASTMASTERS: The Warren Toastmasters will welcome local vocal expert Amanda Beagle to present a workshop at 10 a.m. Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic St. NE, Warren. The event is free and open to the public. The workshop “Be Heard: Vocal Skills for Real Life” will have Beagle guiding attendees through the fundamental elements of effective vocal communication. SERVICES AT LIBRARY: The Trumbull County Mobile Market and Trumbull County Children’s Services will be at the McKinley Birthplace Memorial Museum parking lot in Niles 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. There will be various food products, goods and other services. The event is open for ages 18 and older.

The Mercy Health mobile dental clinic will be at the McKinley Memorial Library parking lot 8:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Friday to provide dental care services and educational materials to the public. There will be dentists and hygienists available. To make an appointment, call 330-652-1704, ext. 3.
