WHAT: Village council meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Richard Zamecnik, John Baryak, Mark Stimpert, Philip Beer, Tarry Alberini and Mayor Lyle Waddell

Council:

• Approved revisions to the parking ordinance to allow parking on the side of the street opposite to where a fire hydrant is located. It also prohibits parking cars on lawns, with police having authority to issue citations;

• Approved a three-year contract with Law Director Joseph Fritz with no change in salary;

• Heard from Jeff Hawkins, water plant supervisor, that hydrant flushing is taking place in the village through the third week of September.

Bristol

WHAT: Township trustee meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Doug Seemann and Mark Webb

ABSENT: Ramon French

Trustees:

• Discussed the new ambulance from Penn Care. Trustees will continue the paperwork to finance the ambulance with Middlefield Bank at 2.87 percent interest for a period of five years. Webb said Penn Care brought the ambulance for a test drive and some of the emergency medical technicians felt the ride quality was excellent and saw no reason to change course on the motion to purchase.

• Heard from resident Art Groves inquiring about the zoning ordinances concerning living in a camper on his property because of a recent house fire. Trustees gave him the name of a certified licensed electrician, and the name of the building inspector at the Trumbull County Engineer’s Office. They also set a workshop 6 p.m. Sept. 19 with zoning to address Groves’ concerns;

• Announced a public hearing to discuss side yard clearance at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at administration building;

• Heard from Fire Chief Tom Dempsey that work has been completed on the Geo-Thermal pump at the fire station by Best Furnace and one of the vehicles needs rear tires at a cost of $1,400;

• Heard from Webb of plans to pursue the INFRA grant for roads;

• Reported the back of the chapel at Evergreen Cemetery was sprayed for the removal of the green coloring because of it being in an area of not much sun;

• Heard from Webb that Gary Shaffer from the Trumbull County Engineer’s Office believes the berming on Fenton Road will be done around the first week of October;

• Heard from Seemann an update has been supplied for the Pontem software that the cemetery deeds and plots are recorded with, at no cost to the township.

WHAT: Township trustee meeting Tuesday

PRESENT: Todd Brewster, Rebecca Rood and Aaron Young

Trustees:

• Approved the purchase of a new backhoe from Murphy Tractor and Equipment for $60,188;

• Set trick-or-treat 5:30 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31.
