BOYS BASKETBALL

Ursuline 63, Summit Country Day 59 — Jaylen Gunther scored 30 points, including three 3-pointers for Ursuline. Noah Bell added 21 for the Irish. With his performance, Bell scored his 1,000th career point. May Joines’ led Summit Country Day with 22 points.

Poland 65, South Range 63 — Carmine Tukalo scored 27 points to help Poland hold off South Range. Tukalo knocked down seven 3-pointers in the game, and also surpassed 1,000 career points. Nick Toy also had a big night, totaling 26 points for South Range. Gavin Hiscox (13 points) and Tommy Titus (12) also contributed for the Raiders.

West Branch 40, Canton South 36 — Gavin Gregory recorded a monster double-double for West Branch, totaling 22 points and 13 rebounds. Gregory also had two assists. Jeremiah Thomas was also key for the Warriors, notching 16 points, three assists and two rebounds. Terrell and Laney had nine points each for Canton South.

Western Reserve 55, Columbiana 40 — Three Western Reserve players reached double figures, led by Connor Cochran with 18 points. Josh Klasic (15) and Aiden Romine (11) added to the Blue Devils offensive attack. Cooper Brown scored 14 points to lead Columbiana.

Salem 64, Niles 56 — Deontay Steele scored 11 first quarter points for Salem, and 25 overall. In the second quarter, Ty Manion caught fire for the Quakers, scoring 10 of his 19 points. Niles was led by Alex Doyle with 23 points and Cash Carey-Hardin with 14.

Hubbard 63, Struthers 58 — Braydon Songer had a game-high 29 points for Hubbard, including three 3-pointers. Jakob Hayes added 19 for the Eagles. Struthers was led by Tommy Cole’s 20 points, including four 3-pointers, and 14 points from Tyler Cole.

Bristol 85, Cardinal 56 — Logan Briggs scored 18 of his game-high 33 points in the first half, and Bristol got a runaway victory over Cardinal. Kaleb Otey and Colt Berry added 12 points each for the Panthers. Cardinal was led by Carson Davis with 14 points.

Champion 42, Windham 37 — After trailing 15-7 heading into the second quarter, Champion went on an 8-0 run to pull ahead, leading 22-19 at halftime. The Flashes’ offense was led by Marky Nolan with 17 points. Nolan nailed key free throws down the lead to secure the Champion win. Mah Kolaczek scored 15 to lead Windham.

LATE FRIDAY

Brooklyn 50, Cardinal Mooney 36 — Jose Mateo scored 15 points to lead Brooklyn. Shaddai Gilead added 14, and the duo of Devin Hardwick and Tyler Hardwick scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Mooney was led by Dante Turner with 14 points.

Carrollton 61, West Branch 49 — Marcus Brooks led Carrollton with 20 points. Tayvian Johnson added 18 points, including three 3-pointers. Gavin Gregory led all scorers with 24 points for West Branch. Jeremiah Thomas added 16 for the Warriors.

LaBrae 78, Garrettsville Garfield 69 — Angelo Melidona led LaBrae with 22 points. Austin Rowe (15 points) and Lucas Glaser (13) were the Vikings’ other top scorers. Garfield was led by Devin Bates with 20 points. Nate Grabowski (13), Collin McGranahan (12) and Oliver Walker (11) also scored in double figures for the G-Men.

Ursuline 74, Austintown Fitch 68 — Jalen Gunther (29 points) and Noah Bell (25) led the Ursuline offense. Nick Markulin knocked down three 3-pointers for the Irish, scoring 11 points in total. Fitch had five players in double figures, led by Braeden Sallee with 19 points. EJ Giles added 14 points. Brady Evans knocked down four threes for the Falcons and Junie Higgs and Anthony Waller had 10 points each.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Canfield 67, Howland 61 — Carly Fleming led all scorers with 19 points for Canfield. Jenna Triveri added 17 points for the Cardinals. Sofia Castronova also reached double figures, scoring 11 points. For Howland, the offense went through Maya Kubamcsek with 18 points. Grace Corley (14 points), Mia Thomas (13) and Talia Rishel (10) also reached double figure scoring for the Tigers.

Warren G. Harding 58, Akron Buchtel 29 — Ja’Leah Provitt (12 points, 12 rebounds) and Akeehla Barnes (11 points, 13 rebounds) both notched double-doubles for Harding. The Raiders leading scorer was Azarriah Phillips with 18 points and five steals. Sanaa Pitts scored 11 points for Harding. Myah Clark scored 15 for Buchtel.

LaBrae 59, Liberty 21 — Erin Kuszmaul scored 15 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead LaBrae in a dominant victory. Angel Scruggs and Ally Magoulick added 11 points each, and Riley Rowe was also in double figures with 10 points. Danelle Coleman had nine points to lead Liberty.

Western Reserve 48, Columbiana 35 — The Western Reserve duo of Quincy Miller (17 points) and Kylee Ramsey (16) led the Blue Devils offense. Columbiana was led by Annah Clemmer with 13 points.

Chalker 51, Brookfield 17 — Tatum Hudak knocked down four 3-pointers and scored 13 points overall to lead Chalker. The Wildcats’ Katelyn Cook added 11 points and Abby Grimm scored 10. Maci Phillips scored six to lead Brookfield.

Mineral Ridge 49, South Range 27 — Gianna Gilbert scored 12 first-quarter points and 19 overall for Mineral Ridge. Sullivan Sandy added 12 points for the Rams. Heidi Bartels scored eight to lead South Range.

Poland 50, Springfield 26 — Leanna Boccieri and Briella Rowe scored 15 points each to lead Poland. Rowe also knocked down a pair of 3-pointers for the Bulldogs. Maddie Page scored seven for Springfield.

Maplewood 44, Girard 35 — A dominant second half helped Maplewood bounce back from a 27-20 halftime deficit. Claire Urchek led the Rockets with 19 points, including nine in the second half. Morgan Himes added 10 points. Girard was led by Ally Gassman with 13 points.

West Branch 46, Salem 34 — Madi Hoopes scored 17 points and knocked down a pair of 3-pointers for West Branch. Peyton Colbert led Salem in scoring with six points, while Abby Knickerbocker had 10 rebounds and five points. Karlie Sampson added seven rebounds and five points for the Quakers.
