BOYS BASKETBALL
Austintown Fitch 46, West Branch 42 — Fitch trailed 33-31 entering the fourth quarter, but Brady Evans and AJ Diaz accounted for eight of the Falcons’ 15 points in the final frame to lead the visitors to a comeback victory. Diaz and Evans combined for eight points in the fourth, with both Falcons making a three. Fitch’s EJ Giles led all scorers with 17 points. Evans had 11 points, Junie Higgs added 10 and Diaz registered three. Kasen Weaver led the Warriors with 11 points, and Jeremiah Thomas and Gavin Gregory each scored nine.
Columbiana 81, Southern 51 — The Clippers had five players finish in double figures in the win. Zander Oliver led the way with 15 points, Carter Johnson added 14, Hunter Devanzo and Senator Johnson each tallied 13 and Avery Young finished with 12. Devanzo also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Jake Pitts scored 13 points to power Southern, and Jacob McCurdy had 12.
Cardinal Mooney 53, Kirtland 47 — The Cardinal’s work at the free-throw line helped carry them to a second straight victory. Mooney (10-11) went 12-for-16 from the charity stripe, including 12-for-15 in the second half. Dante Turner was a perfect 10-for-10 from the line as he finished with a team-high 16 points. Kingston Powell and Ford Stacey both scored 11 points, and Gavin Sentner added 10.
Lisbon 69, East Palestine 63 — After outsourcing the Bulldogs 20-12 in the third quarter, the Blue Devils held off a fourth-quarter push by East Palestine. Aiden Ramgeet scored a game-high 23 points for Lisbon (15-5, 12-2), and AJ Ramgeet had 21 points and team-highs with nine rebounds and seven assists. Clark Rutledge led the Bulldogs (6-15, 3-11) with 18 points. Kealin Simon had 17 points, Drew Bycroft added 13 and RJ May finished with 10.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Chalker 53, Fuchs Mizrachi 48 — Julia Ross scored a game-high 21 points as the Wildcats added a win before the start of the girls tournament later this week. Abby Grimm chipped in 15 points, and Tatum Hudak finished with eight.
SWIMMING
The Warren G. Harding swimming teams had solid performances at their Division I sectional meet on Saturday at the University of Akron.
The boys tied for eighth with 121 points, the best finish in the last six years.
Four swimmers qualified to the Northeast Division 1 district meet. They were Tylor Horrell (100 backstroke and 200 and 400 freestyle relays), Owen Morgenstern (50 and 500 freestyle, 200 and 400 freestyle relays), Garrett Wonders (50 and 100 freestyle, 200 and 400 freestyle relays) and Jonathon Wonders (200 individual medley, 100 breaststroke, 200 and 400 freestyle relays).
The girls were 14th with 14 points. The girls were lead by Senior Sofia Venetti produced best times in the 200 freestyle, 100 backstroke and as part of the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay teams, joining Alana DeSmith, Lilah Shuttic and Alyvia Suttle.
