VOLLEYBALL

Crestview 3, Cardinal Mooney 0 — Despite a stiff test in the final set, the Rebels swept the Cardinals to earn their fifth straight win to start the season. Crestview, led by the 23 kills of Lainy Auer, dominated the first set 25-3, won the second 25-12 and eked out a 25-21 third-set win Wednesday. Sophia Stewart had 28 assists and seven digs in the victory, while Kerrigan Miller recorded 10 digs and four aces, Val Boyd aced seven times, Bella Ciapala earned three kills and Sophia Dattilio tallied four kills and three blocks.

Struthers 3, Chaney 0 — The Wildcats swept Chaney in three sets (25-11, 25-13, 25-10), with Gianna Martin leading Struthers with seven kills and five aces. Natalie Wolikow recorded 15 points and five assists, while Ashley Marucci tallied four aces and three kills. Elliana Benson led the team with seven assists and 12 digs, and Riley Guy earned 10 digs. Vivian Marker added a block as well.

Western Reserve 3, Warren G. Harding 0 — The Blue Devils improved to 2-2 on the season with a three-set (25-15, 25-14, 25-18) victory over the Raiders. Chloeigh Endsley recorded eight kills in the victory, while Adva Baker tallied 11 assists and Quincy Miller contributed six kills and eight assists.

Campbell Memorial 3, Heartland Christian 2 — The Lions dropped to 4-3 on the season with a five-set loss to the Red Devils (14-25, 25-20, 25-19, 14-25, 8-15). Maddie Neville led the way with 21 digs, 10 kills and three aces, while Keagan Pruitt had 15 kills, an ace and 17 digs. Makenna Wilson assisted 15 times and recorded 15 digs, and Claire Liposky added 20 digs, eight kills and three blocks. Capri Drokin also tallied seven blocks and three kills in the loss.

East Palestine 3, Southern 1 — The Bulldogs remained undefeated Tuesday with a 3-1 (25-19, 26-24, 19-25, 25-21) road victory over Southern. Marley Blythe recorded 23 digs, 11 points and eight kills, Alyssa Dilling had 19 digs, six points and three aces, and Amara Wilson earned 21 digs, nine points and 12 kills. Destiney Burtyk added nine kills, six blocks and seven digs, while Cami Kridler had 14 digs and 15 assists for East Palestine.

West Branch 3, Minerva 1 — The Warriors opened Eastern Buckeye Conference (EBC) play with a four-set victory (25-15, 17-25, 25-23, 25-16) against the Lions. West Branch, buoyed by a save by Audrey Ring, rallied to win eight straight points in the third set after trailing 23-17. Ring recorded 14 points, eight kills, five blocks, nine digs and an ace, while Abigail Janosik had seven kills and a dig. Kendelle Hoopes tallied eight points, 17 assists, nine kills, three aces, four blocks and three digs, and Madilyn Hoopes had 11 kills, six blocks and one dig. Aislyn Ring added 16 assists, four points, four digs and one ace, and Sydney Lane chipped in with six points, six digs and an ace in the win.

Newton Falls 5, Campbell Memorial 2 — No stats provided.

Waterloo 5, Brookfield 2 — Despite goals by Brandon Evans and Jaden Duncan, the Warriors dropped Wednesday’s game to Waterloo. For the Vikings, Mason Biltz and Matt Wolfe scored twice each, and Charles Kalail added a goal as well.

GIRLS SOCCER

Canfield 3, Alliance 1 — The Cardinals earned their second win of the year behind the legs of Lorieona Jannone, who scored twice, and Carlyn McCormick, who added another goal. Lexi Toporcer, Lina Catheline and Gabby Orr recorded one assist each, and Elliot Klimas had nine saves.

Cardinal 5, Newton Falls 2 — Although Mia DeCesare scored twice, the Tigers fell to Cardinal on Wednesday.

Southeast 5, Champion 1 — Abby Pattinson scored the Golden Flashes’ lone goal in a lopsided defeat at Southeast. Grayson Knoske earned an assist, and Allison Henderlight saved eight shots in the loss.
