DEAR EDITOR: “It can’t happen here,” many people say. I would agree with you, but then, we’d both be wrong. A recent movie was released, “Judgment at Nuremberg,” which tells the story of the post WWII trials uncovering the German leadership’s role in supporting Nazi dictatorship and the crimes against humanity as carried out by law during WWII. Look at Devon Stanley, a Liberty trustee, Girard Municipal Court prosecutor and Trumbull County deputy clerk of courts, who also has a private law practice. Decent people are assaulted regularly by scammers attempting to gain their personal information, their money, and usually, both. A new round of scam attempts has taken things up a notch by including the state seal of West Virginia in its attempt. Law-abiding citizens are used to being able to believe that if something comes with that kind of official imagery, they should pay attention.
