Some killers truly deserve death penalty as punishment

DEAR EDITOR: Concerning the Nov. 19 article in the Tribune Chronicle re: the death penalty. Republican Steve Huffman of Tipp City said only God has the right to say if a person should die. But it says in the Bible, in Genesis 9:6, if a man murders someone he is to die. Some people would say that Scripture doesn’t count because it is “Old Testament,”’ but not all Old Testament scriptures are outdated. Opponents say the death penalty isn’t effective; but that’s because they don’t use it enough. Most people who get the death sentence aren’t executed: Danny Lee Hill ...

It’s sad to forget how we got to where we are

DEAR EDITOR: My keys, my phone, my glasses? Part of being too busy or simply getting older, don’t worry, it will be fine. The “sadness” is when you forget your roots — the reasons behind your gains, accomplishments and the family you raised. Many who have remained in the Valley love the area for what it has to offer, accept some of the minor setbacks, areas of concern that every community experiences, apparently have forgotten how we got here, how we obtained our position in life, sent our kids to school, college, paid that house off, enjoyed the many family vacations ...

Why must we be so divided in this town of Warren, Ohio?

DEAR EDITOR: As I sit and listen to people in the city, from every part of Warren, instead of building this city up together, I find that many don’t want to work together or refuse to do so because they want to put a personal (MINE) stamp on projects, projects that may be intended for the community or its youth population, but are in fact for themselves. My case in point is the newly built health and wellness center near the high school. It’s beautiful and it has the potential to do many things for the students and the community; but that’s not good enough for some of us. We ...

Biden’s American Rescue Plan is alive and working

DEAR EDITOR: Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan (ARP) is still alive and working in Howland and Bazetta! No thanks to the voters who all supported Trump and his Republican party. Just so you know, the sidewalk being installed in Howland on state Route 46 from the bypass to Howland Center was made possible by the American Rescue Plan Act funds, from Joe Biden’s plan to create jobs and improve infrastructure after the pandemic. Every Republican voted against it. Also, to the Bazetta people on McCleary Jacoby, who will enjoy a new paved street and culvert work, not from trustee ...

Why was Biden protected during the election?

DEAR EDITOR: From Hollywood to D.C., the Left queried on Nov. 6, what went wrong? Who’s to blame for their loss? Most fault Joe for running for a second term. Joe’s ego was massaged every week by columnists, Clarence Page, Jamie Stiehm and Robert Reich, endlessly glorifying with adoration Joe’s every thought, every speech, every meeting and every trip to a foreign country. Sorry, but you reap what you sow. No one else to blame but themselves. I read Conde Nast’s Roger Lynch pledges to “uphold the principles of independent journalism.” Conde Nast publishes Vogue. Does ...

Not my senator’s son — it really is the name of a song

DEAR EDITOR: Not my senator’s son. There is a song with that title. With regard to the remark made by President Trump to Liz Cheney — how would she like nine guns pointed in her face and shot. What he was referring to was Liz Cheney’s status as a “War Hawk,” like her father. They started the war in the Middle East and not one of their sons or their family members were sent to war. Dick Cheney accepted draft deferments. He told the Washington Post, “I had other priorities in the ‘60s than military service.” I want to know why Democrats keep dragging out “old” ...
