Vote for Shelley Pratt for county probate judge
DEAR EDITOR:
On May 5, Republican primary voters will have to decide on who will be the new Trumbull County Probate Court judge. Shelley Pratt, an experienced Prosecutor and current Common Pleas magistrate is the candidate voters should trust. Magistrate Pratt was a prosecutor for 20+ years in both Ashtabula and Columbiana counties. During that time, she was involved in over 100 cases before the Ohio Supreme Court. In comparison, her opponent has 4. Shelley Pratt has argued before the 11th and 7th districts’ Court of Appeals. Shelley Pratt is a full-time magistrate who has involvement in the Drug Court docket.
In comparison, her opponent is a part-time traffic court judge who claims to have a plethora of probate court experience, yet has somehow filed fewer than 50 probate matters in 30 years. That’s less than two per year.
Last year, a husband and father of two young children was killed in a crash because the driver was on his phone. According to the Trumbull County Central District Court Docket, Judge Tom Campbell sentenced the defendant to 200 hours of community service in lieu of 16 days in jail. Is that what a life is worth to you, Tom Campbell? 200 hours of community service? For those who don’t know, the judge could have sentenced the defendant to 180 days in jail with a permanent license suspension.
On May 5, vote Shelley Pratt for Trumbull County probate judge.
