Trump is an oligarch who really gets the vibes of the American middle class. What we really need our president to do with our precious tax dollars now is to cut our health care, start wars all over the planet, build the world’s biggest ballroom with real gold on the walls, and finally build a Guinness Book of World Records Triumphal Arch near the Lincoln Memorial. Niles, why do we have sidewalks? So that people can walk on them. The city put them there, so why do they not clear the snow? I see some homeowners and businesses do this, but maybe the elderly can’t and some just don’t. I still see many fire hydrants covered and blocked. Do you tell homeowners it is their responsibility? Thank you to Cortland’s former mayor, Deidre Petrosky, for her dedicated years of service to our community. Unfortunately, of 5,236 registered voters only 1,231 (23%) voted in the recent recall election. Pathetic turnout. Cortland is a safe, desirable and successful community thanks to her leadership. Sad some voters were swayed by one-sided, unsubstantiated accusations which dominated the media. She has exited with Cortland at the top of the list of communities to call home. To paraphrase Matthew 25:23, well done, good and faithful servant!

What has happened to the Olympic spirit? Some athletes representing the USA at this year’s Games have trashed America and have questioned their feelings about the country. If they can’t represent us with pride, then they should be barred from competition, pack up their belongings and return home. Perhaps they should even repay all the money that has been invested in them and forfeit any income garnered from advertisements, promos, etc. What an embarrassment on a worldwide stage!
