Sound off!
One thousand people protested at the local No Kings rally. What a coincidence, That’s about how many people voted for Kamala Harris from Trumbull County in the election. One should not confuse a president completing campaign promises with a monarch. After four years of watching Sleepy Joe hide for weeks on end, they are just not used to it, I guess.

Last Saturday was the No Kings protest on Courthouse Square. It was a complete success! Sunday we woke up and didn’t have a king. But wait — we didn’t have one Saturday, either.

Laughable. Trump is jealous of Obama? He wants a Nobel Peace Prize because Obama received one? For doing what? Explain. Trump settled seven wars in eight months. Was nominated by many world leaders. He wants to ruin Obamacare. Absolutely, because it doesn’t work. If it’s so successful, why does the federal government subsidize it? I’m Ultra MAGA. I’ve never heard of NSPM-7. Must be another hateful untruth from the socialists.

The Newton Falls council approved another comprehensive plan for $65,000. It was stated on the floor that the last one was never used. Council said it needed direction. If council can’t see what our community needs and be a better steward of taxpayers’ money, no plan will help when there’s no money to do anything because of wasted spending. The comprehensive plan could be used to pay for paving our village’s roads.

Today’s news brings more fun stuff in Girard. This time things moved to City Hall rather than the schools. But is there any connection or common thread between the two? Just wondering!
— Girard
It is obvious King Trump’s decisions are based on benefiting HIS wealth and Power. He has NO concerns not paying the military, firing key personnel, cutting food assistance and health care to thousands. In Trump’s warped mind, it’s better to give tax breaks to the wealthy, spend $200 million for a ballroom, $170 million for Kristi Noem’s private plane, $1 billion to convert Trump’s free Air Force, $40 billion to Argentina with no ROI for the working-class American. And the beat goes on and on. SO SAD!

The president said there is a new era of peace in the Middle East! How about a new era of peace in the USA? Our politicians are an embarrassment to the founders of this country. When they shut down the government, we become an embarrassment to the world. In 2010, DJT said in a TV interview that the President is the sole individual responsible when there is a shutdown. What say you now, Mr. President?

With SCOTUS in his pocket, and the cowardly Republicans bowing to him, Trump can and is doing ANYTHING he wants, and with Miller running the show as the real power behind the golden chair, people absolutely must wake up and realize our world as we knew it is no longer. Hopefully, common sense will come before our government is irreparably destroyed, all rules of law and the Constitution gone forever.

If adults want to parade around like fools denouncing the United States government, that is their prerogative. However, they should leave young children at home. There is no reason to expose youngsters to that type of situation nor risk little ones in case trouble starts. Use some sense, folks!

Dumb and dumber! It was dumb to start paying college athletes under the guise of NIL, and it is even dumber to consider doing the same thing for high school athletes. How can these young players maintain amateur standing if they are being paid to play? And are the college athletes who are now being paid thousands of dollars still receiving scholarships? Ludicrous!

It’s a shame Democrats and their cohort liberals can’t accept the successes of that hated dictator in the White House, whose hardline stand on many fronts has offset the soft “give ’em anything they want” agenda that put the country in the miserable state that Trump is trying to clean up.

Trump is trying to ban high-sugar soda and candy “purchased” with public tax-draining SNAP benefits. The “cheap belly-filler” food that is high in carbohydrates and starches only promotes unhealthy conditions that will eventually bring the Medicaid recipient to the ER where it becomes the public tax-paying citizen’s burden. Get the picture? Maybe rearranging some characters in the word “liberals” and removing a few others will reveal the true nature of the miserables.

Dear Bernie Moreno (who never answers an email), please inform Trump of my groceries: potato salad $14.50, four croissants $5.99, half & half $7.00, Lay’s chips $6.19, a chicken $10.00, ground beef $6.50/lb. Trump ignores these costs. Households are struggling, especially a single mom with two children. Where are the GOP House reps? Too much greed.

Am I the only one who thinks that the 535 grown men and women (our Congress) that we elected to run our government are acting like children and not doing their job?
They are the ones who should not be paid during this shutdown! Just do the job that we elected you to do and get on with running our country! Grow Up!
— Cortland
