Sound off!
Nexstar / WYTV has chosen to punish Jimmy Kimmel by silencing him. Despite Disney and ABC reinstating the show, it is being preempted in the local market. Nexstar, entrusted with a license to broadcast over the limited public airwaves, is censoring by applying its opinion on what viewers should be allowed to see. This utter disregard of the concept of free speech is a dereliction of the broadcaster’s duty to the public. Free speech includes ideas with which you disagree.

Christians, examine the beliefs of the biblical Pharisees. Compare and contrast to modern day “conservative values.” Was Jesus woke in Matthew 21? The Bible strictly and literally interpreted is called legalism. The Bible loosely interpreted is called liberalism. Neither are the teachings of Jesus. Beware of politics disguised as biblical content. People’s behavior can be qualified by characteristics of the life of Christ.

Trump’s inauguration January 2025 quote: “After years and years of illegal and unconstitutional federal efforts to restrict free expression, I also will sign an executive order to immediately stop all government censorship and bring back free speech to America.” FCC Chairman Brendan Carr quote: “Should the government censor speech it doesn’t like? Of course not. The FCC does not have a roving mandate to police speech in the name of the ‘public interest.” Left out: “Unless Trump doesn’t like it.”

Last Saturday, Warren JFK was down five with a minute left. After moving the ball to the opponent’s 40, JFK threw an interception The player who intercepted the ball landed awkwardly. The stadium was quiet and after a minute the young man sat up and then stood. As he began to walk to the sidelines, the JFK coach shook his hand. No matter what you read in the papers, there are still coaches who treat football as a game between teenagers and show class when it matters.

There is crime among illegal, undocumented migrants in this country. Forget statistics. Twenty million illegals — at least — entered our country, crossed our border. That is THE CRIME. They tossed their credentials and papers BEFORE they entered. You could see this live on TV. You can not enter any country in the world without a passport. Try it sometime!

The Trib poll question on 9/20 was, “Are you hopeful that Insight will open in Warren?” The answer was probably 100% yes. But that isn’t the real question. The question should have been “Do you think Insight will be able to remain open?” The majority of those who didn’t retire have found jobs. Yes, we all want the hospital to reopen. What’s the guarantee it will stay open? That’s the true question.

Jimmy Kimmel made comments regarding politics on the story about Charlie Kirk’s murder. Brian Kilmeade said homeless people should be euthanized. Guess who got suspended?

It’s comical to watch local and state Republicans cry about trying to fund departments they oversee. When the Big Beautiful Billionaire Tax Cut Bill passed, it gutted large amounts of our area’s funding. These same local and state Republican politicians all voted for Republicans like Moreno, Joyce and Rulli. When you elect puppets to office, they will do whatever their boss tells them to do, even if it screws their own people and infrastructure. What did they think was going to happen? Duh!

I am at a total loss. I cannot understand the current political situation and say it’s sane. Most of this rhetoric from both sides is just nonsense. It’s sickening and not productive. We are the USA. UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. Let’s get back to being united. I’m tired and weary. This all is exhausting.

The assassination of Charlie Kirk has the far right blaming the left for political violence. The fact is violence on the right has been higher for years. Even our local no-class GOP headquarters had signs saying “F Biden” last year. Yes, the F word was spelled out and kids saw it every day. A Minnesota Democratic rep and her husband were murdered by a far-right assassin in June leaving behind two children. The White House didn’t even fly the flag half-staff for her but did for Kirk.

Those older people protesting … I have better things to do in my life than stand outside protesting against billionaires. Start with your senators and representatives. Nancy Pelosi, net worth between $265-$400 million. Mark Warner, $257 million. Most of them each are worth $1.2 million. I bet you would not be outside if the heat index was in the 90s or down to 20 degrees.

Thank you for finally putting Champion in the police blotter. Please continue to do so.

I sympathize with the Ursuline students — football players, cheerleaders, and band members who are paying consequences for the misdeeds of a few football players. If the football coaches and school administration had addressed the issue when it was first brought to their attention in June, games might not have been canceled. The responsibility lies with those adults who tried to cover it up and didn’t immediately investigate the allegations nor discipline those that were involved.

Instead of bemoaning the fact their sons can no longer play football this season, the Ursuline parents should be demanding answers from the coaches who allowed this to happen and the administrators who didn’t give credence to the victims’ stories. All of this fallout could have been avoided if action had been taken when the hazing was discovered — in June! Put the blame where it is due.
