Sound off!
The letter writer from Burghill on Aug. 23 was absolutely correct in stating that hydrilla and other aquatic plant life in Mosquito Reservoir do provide good cover and oxygen to numerous fish in the lake. This enables the fish to hide, breed, grow and multiply. Yet, it is important to note that as the aquatic plants die off, the decomposition of them uses up oxygen levels in the water resulting in numerous fish dying or a “fish kill” as it’s called.

Kudos to David Plattt, Burghill for his Letter to the Editor, Tribune Chronicle, August 23, 2025 for providing a complete understanding of Mosquito Lake’s ecosystem and the Wildlife Sportsman Restoration Fund. The Trumbull County commissioners should pay close attention to the information provided and become more knowledgeable of the damage that could be done by reducing vegetation at Mosquito Lake.

MAGA clearly “DOGEs” the purpose of a godly democratic government by removing protections against abuses by the powerful (ex: gutted EPA, unions, health care all while whitewashing the Epstein files). MAGA does the opposite of justice in a Christian sense. The working poor (immigrants) do 20 years for food-stamp fraud, while billionaire Trump’s 45 years of tax fraud makes him smart? Worse, 47’s DOJ is now his personal tool for autocracy via the obscenely unconstitutional silencing of his critics.

From his historic ride down the golden escalator, the megalomaniac has symbolically descended the USA into an uncivil war with false narratives on race crimes, religion and patriotism. False because he has exaggerated and scapegoated the criminality of immigrants, claims Jesus with words but no deeds and all while eroding America’s sacred constitutional foundation. The only things sacred to Trump are money, power to do evil and his own self image. Future History lesson: How a rich pedophile destroyed America.

I don’t know who Judge Campbell is, but that verdict he gave was what you’d expect in California, NOT Warren, Ohio. I am so incensed that a “distracted” driver, for whatever reason, committed vehicular homicide and can just go on with his life. The verdict would be otherwise if he was a person of color. BTW, I am an older white female who votes Republican.

The big problem with Sherrod Brown and Tim Ryan is their lack of real results. They pretend to stand up for labor, but produce NOTHING! Just ask the Delphi salaried retirees, who still fight 15 years later! Just ask union workers who lost their jobs during the last 20 years. Ever wonder why Brown and Ryan got stomped in their last election? Maybe they’ll learn they are NOT wanted!

The best way to save billions of dollars is to stop all spending trying to get to Mars. We were there, did that, could not find a T-shirt. There is nothing there worth going back for, plus it is too far away. Who is paying for all these rocket failures: Elon or taxpayers? No sense going back to the moon either. Still no T-shirts.

A cousin came to visit from Massachusetts. We took him to David Grohl Alley. I was totally stunned and disgusted with it. It was the first time I’ve been there and I was really disappointed. There were garbage cans at the entrance and it was dirty everywhere. It’s a shame that a famous person from Warren, Ohio, would see this. It’s an embarrassment to the city.

Kudos to Trumbull County Prosecutor Dennis Watkins for his ongoing fight to find justice for the Fife family. Danny Lee Hill remains alive and “well” in prison after his heinous murder and torture of Raymond Fife, who was just 12 years old at the time of his brutal death. This continues to be nothing more than a major waste of taxpayers’ money. Hill should have been executed 40 years ago. Do it and stop this nonsense.

Because an immature driver was more interested in his phone rather than paying attention to the road, a family has lost a husband, a father, a son, a brother. And the penalty for this devastation was two weeks in jail, community service, and one year’s license suspension. In other words, he was given a slap on the wrist for causing a death. The judge should be ashamed of himself for making a mockery of this tragedy.

What? A distracted driver causes a chain reaction crash that kills a man, and the guilty party is sentenced to two weeks in jail, community service and a one-year suspension of his driver’s license. Good grief! He caused the death of a man who was simply waiting for a red light to change. Obviously, the judge didn’t realize the seriousness of the crime, or he would have sentenced the distracted driver accordingly. This is shameful!
