Little fair, balanced in public broadcasting

DEAR EDITOR:

Being a longtime viewer of PBS news programs, I took offense with YSU’s Paul Ditchey’s comment, “If anybody thinks it’s biased, they probably don’t watch or listen to it. It is considered the most unbiased news casting in America.” Somehow I missed when they did their polling.

Ditchey refers to President Hoover’s granddaughter, Margaret and her unbiased approach when interviewing. She bills herself as a Republican and often will challenge a few conservative guests with a furrowed brow in her expression as well as perplexed scorn.

I imagine the titled name plate on her desk cites the caption, “Our PBS token Republican.”

PBS also employs commentator David Brooks. He labels himself a conservative. Yet, his rhetoric leans to the left in every discussion.

Having those two on the payroll doesn’t grant PBS the right to boast they offer fair and impartial reporting.
