Linda L. Nehlen 1948-2026
BROOKFIELD — Linda L. Nehlen, of Brookfield, passed into eternal life on Monday, July 6, 2026, with her daughter by her side following a brief illness. She was 78.
Linda was born Feb. 11, 1948, in Sharon, Pa., a daughter to William L. and Thelma P. McLane Montgomery.
A 1966 graduate of Brookfield High School, she worked a variety of jobs throughout her lifetime. She may be remembered at the Yankee Lake Party Center, where she was a bookkeeper. In addition, she worked at Eagle Chevy and then she retired from Oakes Foundry.
She was a tiny lady with a huge personality. She would tell anyone exactly like it is and everyone loved her for that. She was funny, kind, smart and would do anything for anyone.
Her family meant the world to her and she always took care of everyone else before herself. She loved taking care of her grandsons while they grew up — her Nick and B. They were her pride and joy and they affectionately called her Ninny. She was the best grandmother to them and they loved her immensely. She was a wonderful cook and we will all miss holidays at her house and the Sunday dinners she would make. She will be truly and deeply missed.
Linda loved nothing more than sitting outside of her home on any day that it was remotely nice out. The three homes besides hers were all family members and they would all sit and visit every day. She also loved tending to all her flowers and they were beautiful. She just loved being home.
She was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. You could hear her little self, yelling all the way down the block when the games were on.
She leaves behind to mourn her loss her beloved family: daughter, Amanda “Mandy” (Troy) Squibbs of Masury; grandsons, Nicholas McElwain and Brandon Logan; great-grandson, Kai Logan; sister, Mary Jane (Ed) Cybak; sister-in-law, Colleen Montgomery; brother-in-law, Roger Huston; nephews, Jeff (Tamara) Marcella, Bill Marcella, Troy (Robin) McDougal and Jeremy (Chris) Lapikas; nieces, Jane (Dave) Ball, Ellen (Matt) Perry and Nevele (Dustin) Ross; 10 great-nephews and nieces; as well as her granddog, Bella. She also leaves several step-grandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents; partner of 35 years, Paul Nehlen; brother, Robert Montgomery; and sisters, Sandra Marcella and Barbara Huston.
In ordinance with her wishes, there will be no services at this time.
