Elaine M. Zirkle 1945-2026

She was born Feb. 4, 1945, in Allentown, Pa., a daughter of the late Robert Aigler and Margaret Murphy Aigler. Elaine married her husband, John D. Zirkle, on Aug. 15, 1992; and they enjoyed 27 years of marriage together until his death on Dec. 31, 2019.

A lifetime area resident, Elaine graduated from Austintown Fitch High School. She enjoyed fishing on Lake Erie with her late husband and quilting, having belonged to a quilting club.

She is survived by her children, Sandy (Ernie) McDonald of Salem, James (Kathy) Boyles of Harrisburg, Pa., and Tom Boyles of Ellsworth; five sisters, Roberta, Marilyn, Shelia, Harriet and Rhonda; two brothers, Santos Jr. and John; four grandchildren, Nicole, Veronica, Alexandria and Cody; and one great-granddaughter; Delilah.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert, and stepmother, Martha; her mother, Margaret and stepfather, Santos Nardi; her husband, John D. Zirkle; a sister, Peggy Ann; and two brothers, Clayton and Frederick.

A funeral service will begin at noon Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at James Funeral Home, where Pastor Jennifer Dorn will officiate and where family will receive friends two hours prior to the service.

Burial will take place in Newton Falls Cemetery.
