Ronnie Joseph Borst 1949-2026

SOUTHINGTON — Ronnie Joseph Borst, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026, in Cleveland, at the age of 76.

Ronnie was born March 2, 1949, in Jamestown, New York.

Family was the cornerstone of Ronnie’s life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jacqueline Borst; his son, Jeff (Kim) Borst; his daughter, Stacey (Erik) Hoover; his grandchildren, Max (Amber) Hoover, Ben (Emily) Hoover, Ella Borst and Jack Borst; his sister, Bonnie Hanslip; and his aunt, Shirley Kenny.

Each family member was a recipient of Ronnie’s boundless love and affection and they will carry forward the lessons of kindness and joy he imparted.

Ronnie’s early life in Jamestown was marked by a love of sports. He excelled as a high school athlete. He graduated from Southwestern Central in 1967 and later earned his degree at Jamestown Community College. Ronnie was a union ironworker for 25 years and finished his career as a draftsman.

Ronnie dedicated much of his life to coaching and working with children. He brought his love of the game to many young athletes and encouraged them to follow their dreams.

In retirement, Ronnie was an avid golfer and an even better caddy for his family and friends. He liked working outside in the yard and building koi ponds that he and his wife enjoyed. He also loved cooking for his family.

Ronnie Joseph Borst’s legacy is one of love, friendship and adventure. He approached life with an open heart and a willingness to give of himself. His memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his influence will continue to be felt through the countless lives he touched.

The family will be having a private service.
