Marie Donnet 1933-2026

Marie Donnet

NILES — Marie McIntire Donnet, 93, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Hospice House in Poland, following a brief illness.

Born Jan. 16, 1933, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Marie was the daughter of John and Helen Schesney Hubiack.

She was a 1950 graduate of Girard High School and a lifelong member of St. Stephen Church in Niles. In 1955, she married Floyd “Mac” McIntire, with whom she had two children. After Mac’s passing, she married Victor Donnet, and the two shared many happy years before his death in 2006. For over 30 years, Marie worked faithfully at Home Federal Savings and Loan in Niles, where she was dearly loved by the community and retired as the treasurer.

Everyone who knew Marie remarked upon her unfailing kindness, her personal integrity and her compassion for others. She was heavily involved in her community as a member of St. Stephen Church’s finance committee, the Niles Catholic Women’s Club, the Red Hat Society and the Iroquois Boating Club in Conneaut Lake. She also formed a “Girard Club” with her friends from grade school, which she always looked forward to and attended monthly throughout her life. Marie loved working outdoors and tending to her gardens, traveling, playing cards, reading voraciously, doing puzzles and spending time at her lake house. But her favorite way to spend time was with her beloved children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom she adored.

Marie is survived by her brother, John (Joan) Hubiack of Arizona; two daughters, Diana McIntire Anderson, with whom she made her home, and Paula Comparato of Carmel, Indiana; four grandchildren, Brooke Marie Anderson, Michael (Amanda) Comparato, Matthew (Megan) Comparato and Mark Comparato; and eight great-grandchildren, Colby, Miles, Finley, Grady, Reece, Mason, Layla Marie and Cayden.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Floyd “Mac” McIntire and Victor Donnet; two great-grandchildren, Craig and Conner; and her two sisters, Theresa Courtney and Sandra Batcho.

Calling hours will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the Holeton-Yuhasz Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, 2026, at St. Stephen Church, preceded by a 10:30 a.m. prayer service at the funeral home. The Rev. Leo Wehrlin will be the celebrant.
